<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter for liquid crystal display device of a lateral electric field driving type having a spacer with which an adequate cell gap can be obtained. <P>SOLUTION: A color filter for liquid crystal display device of lateral electric field driving type according to the present invention has a substrate, on the substrate, a light shielding part, a coloring layer and a spacer. The spacer has a laminate layer column obtained by laminating two or more coloring layers, and a transparent protective layer formed on the laminate layer column.
