<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric sensor and a method for setting the same enabling improvement of safety around an object apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A photoelectric sensor, including: light emission means; scan means; light reception means for receiving reflected light from a body in a measurement zone; and positional information acquisition means for acquiring positional information of the body on the basis of an irradiation direction of irradiation light and a reception signal at the light reception means, determines a presence of a body in a predefined zone on the basis of the positional information and outputs, based on the determination result, an ON signal if a body does not exist in the predefined zone, and outputs an OFF signal if a body exists in the predefined zone. Further, the photoelectric sensor includes: memory for storing a monitoring position set as a position where a body is to exist; and signal output means for outputting an ON signal or OFF signal in accordance with a determination result for a predefined zone if a body exists in the monitoring position, and for outputting an OFF signal even if a body does not exist in the predefined zone if the body does not exist in the monitoring position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
