Provided are a metal base lamp and lighting equipment which can increase the heat dissipation performance of a solid light emitting element and which have luminous intensity distribution characteristics closer to that of an existing light source such as a general incandescent bulb. The metal base lamp is provided with a light source part comprised of a solid light emitting element; a heat-conductive heat dissipating body which has the light source part provided on the top and forms a heat dissipating part provided projecting in a radial direction with respect to the optical axis such that the light from the light source part is guided in a direction opposite the top; a light-transmissive cover member which has an open part for exposing to the outside air the heat dissipating part of the heat dissipating body, and is provided so as to cover the light source part and the heat dissipating body; and a metal base member supplying a electrical power to the light source part.
