The detector (1) has a detector chamber (5) arranged within a housing of the detector for detecting substance in the detector chamber and/or changes of common environmental conditions occurring in an environment of the detector. A detection mechanism (8) for detecting objects in close to the detector is provided with an ultrasound sensor (9). The ultrasound sensor is arranged to detect elevation angle range of 180 degree and azimuth angle range of 360 degree and comprises an ultrasound converter (10) and a control- and detection circuit (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting objects in close to a danger detector.
