<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximize extraction of light from a solid state light emitter (for example, a light emitting diode chip), or a package (for example, LED package) in a lighting device using the solid light emitting element (for example, the light emitting diode chip) and a luminescent material. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device 10 includes: an installation body 11 holding a solid-state light emitting element composed of at least one light emitting diode; and at least one luminescent element and a confusional layer 12 composed of at least one luminescent material and spaced from the solid-state light emitting element. The luminescent element has a first luminescent element region composed of the first luminescent material and a second luminescent element region composed of the second luminescent material.
