<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying method for timber, capable of setting appropriate heat treatment time according to material quality of individual timber to appropriately suppress surface cracks and internal cracks, in high-temperature drying of timber, in particular timber to be dried such as cedar. <P>SOLUTION: The drying method for timber includes: a step (a) of steaming the timber; a step (b) of performing high-temperature low-humidity treatment of the timber which has been subjected to the steaming process; and a step (c) of then, drying the timber which has been subjected to the high-temperature low-humidity treatment until the timber reaches a predetermined water content. In the step (b), based on time when distortion of the surface of the timber indicates a predetermined condition, the step (b) is completed so as to transfer to the step (c). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
