<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appropriate programmable logic device (PLD). <P>SOLUTION: The programable logic device consists of a PLD and one of logic cells. The PLD includes a plurality of complex logic blocks (CLBs) arranged in a row and a column of an array and a plurality of inter-CLB lines for interconnecting the CLBs of the array. Each of the plurality of CLBs includes a first slice of the logic cell and a second slice of the logic cell. The first slice of the logic cell of the CLB in one row in the array and the second slice of the logic cell are connected together by a first carry chain and a second carry chain respectively. One of the logic cells includes one or more lookup tables for implanting a logical function on a set of inputs supplied to the one logic cell, an arithmetic logic circuit configured to receive a carry-in signal and generate a carry-out signal constituting a part of the first carry chain, a first output register, and a second output register.
