APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR BLOCKING ATTACK OF MAC FLOODING IN NETWORK SWITCH

PURPOSE: A device for blocking a MAC flooding attack of a network switch and a method thereof are provided to generate an alarm for a MAC flooding attack when the number of MAC addresses reaches to a minimum threshold, thereby preventing the MAC flooding attack. CONSTITUTION: When the number of MAC registered in a monitor port exceeds a minimum threshold, a control unit(20) generates an alarm for a MAC flooding attack. The control unit controls an available number of MAC for registering in the monitor port. The control unit controls a registration rate of MAC in the monitor port by the control of a network switch chip(10). The control unit registers a corresponding MAC address in a MAC table(11) by the control of the network switch chip.
