<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin-made sleeve for an optical connector, which can reduce chipping of a ferrule tip part and loss of optical communication and has excellent dimensional accuracy in a configuration that the axial-direction positioning of the ferrule tip part is performed in the axis-direction length of the sleeve while reducing weight and cost of the resin-made sleeve as compared with a sleeve composed of ceramics or a metal. <P>SOLUTION: In the cylindrical resin-made sleeve 1 for an optical connector, which coaxially abuts and holds two ferrules 4 attached to the end parts of respective optical fiber cables, a gate part is formed on one cylinder end face 1a and injection-molded by using resin, and then the cylinder end face 1a including the gate part is additionally processed to form a face having no protrusion in the axial direction, so that engagement parts 4c of two ferrules 4 are respectively engaged with the inner peripheral surface 1c of the cylinder, respective cylinder end faces 1a, 1b are abutted on step faces 4a, 4b of the engagement parts 4c of respective ferrules 4 and the tip parts of respective ferrules 4 in the sleeve 1 are positioned in the axial direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
