摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a favorable object for a rolling bearing, which has excellent abrasion resistance, is rotated at high speed and has high load capacity, as a retainer for the rolling bearing which is formed into a shape of the retainer using low carbon steel and is then hardened at its surface by carbonitriding. <P>SOLUTION: A material composed of alloy steel, in which a carbon (C) content is 0.05 mass% to 0.30 mass%, a silicon (Si) content is 0.15 mass% to 2.0 mass%, and a manganese (Mn) content is 0.30 mass% to 2.0 mass%, is processed into a shape of the retainer, which is then subjected to carbonitriding, quenching, and tempering. Thereby, in a range from the surface to a depth of 1 &mu;m, a nitrogen (N) content is made to be 0.3 mass% to 1.0 mass%, and a total content of carbon and nitrogen is made to be 0.6 mass% to 1.8 mass%. In a range from the surface to a depth of 100 &mu;m, existing ratios of Si, Mn-based nitride and Si, Mn-based carbonitride per unit area are in total made to be 0.5 area% to 5.0 area%, and the hardness is made to be Hv600 or above. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
