<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved apparatus for securing soft tissue to bone. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for securing soft tissue to bone comprises a suture anchor 125 including a body 130, an elongated front end section 131 connected to the body and extending distally of the body terminating in a distal point 133, a bone-engaging geometry formed on the body and being proximal to the elongated front end section, a driver-engaging element formed on the proximal end of the body, and a suture-connecting feature attached the body for attaching a suture 50 to the body. The elongated front end section has a length which exceeds the thickness of the soft tissue to be secured to the bone, such that when the suture anchor is passed through the soft tissue, the distal point emerges from the soft tissue before the bone-engaging geometry penetrates the soft tissue. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
