The tire pressure control system (100) has a tire pressure control unit (200) and a navigation system (300) which is designed to determine a property of a through-extended guideway. The tire pressure control system is designed to regulate the tire pressure according to the determined property of the through-extended guideway. The tire pressure is increased when the guideway includes a motorway section. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a tire pressure of a motor vehicle tire.
