The coupling (1) has a coupling head (4) for coupling a coupling counterpart of a trailer, a ring (2) and a hall sensor (3). The head is rotationally fixed to a towing vehicle. The ring is rotatably mounted in a circumferential gap (11) of the head such that the ring protrudes from the head, and rotates around a rotation angle corresponding to angular change of a bending angle between the vehicle and the trailer such that the ring is engaged with the counterpart when the counterpart is connected with the coupling head. The sensor detects the rotation angle.
