<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable having no directionality in bending, low friction, and high flexural rigidity, facilitating conduit wiring, and being convenient in use for housing an extra length after leaving a conduit. <P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber cable comprises an optical fiber 1 having an external diameter of 0.25 mm; a tensile strength member 2 placed in parallel to the optical fiber 1 or a steel wire 2 having an external diameter of 0.4 mm to 0.7 mm; and outer covers 3 and 4 formed from a polyolefin-based thermoplastic resin having a thickness of 0.7 mm to 1.0 mm, a friction coefficient of 0.2 or less, and a shore D hardness of 60 or more and covering the optical fiber 1 and the tensile strength member 2. The optical fiber cable has an external diameter of 3.0 mm ± 0.5 mm and a flexural rigidity of 6.0×10<SP POS="POST">-4</SP>N m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>to 10.0×10<SP POS="POST">-4</SP>N m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
