A method and system for service message transmission based on a matching rule in Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) are provided in the invention, which is used for solving the problems of the storage and accumulation, low push efficiency and bad availability etc of the messages in the IPTV message system. In the invention, matching fields are respectively disposed in a set-top box and the sent service messages, the service messages are sent adopting a broadcast mode or a multicast mode, the matching of the matching fields are performed by the set-top box based on the matching rule, and the filtering to the message is performed. The invention avoids sending the service message in a unicast mode, increases the push efficiency, and can greatly reduce the storage pressure of offline messages in the message system; when the messages are made, can perform a transmission of a single or a combination strategy according to the specific service attribute, which is greatly convenient for the operation of the service.
