The supercharger (1) has a radial compressor and a radial turbine (3). A compressor blade ring is arranged at a closed compressor wheel spine, where the ring exhibits a compressor wheel of the compressor. A turbine blade ring (14) exhibiting a turbine wheel (13) of the turbine is arranged at a closed turbine wheel spine (15) on a common shaft (6). Outer diameter (21) of the turbine wheel spine is formed to be greater than outer diameter (22) of the turbine blade ring for partially compensating occurrence of axial forces during operation. The turbine wheel is used in a fuel cell system and manufactured from aluminum material. The turbine wheel is used in an internal combustion engine and manufactured from a high temperature-resistant material.
