COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, VPN GATEWAY UNIT, AND COMMUNICATION METHOD USED THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual private network (VPN) gateway unit capable of performing communication even in a situation with the competition of IP addresses singularly by one L2 VPN gateway unit without executing special signal processing between L2 VPN gateway units forming an L2 VPN tunnel.

SOLUTION: VPN gateway units (1) connect IPv4 networks via L2 VPN tunneling. Each VPN gateway unit (1) includes means (an IP address detection processing part 13) for converting an IP address of the unit in the network, which is overlapped between the mutual networks, into an IP address to avoid the overlapping. The means performs conversion from the actual IPv4 address of the unit under the self network competing with the unit under the opposite network into a virtual IPv4 address or conversion from the virtual IPv4 address into the actual IPv4 address.
