<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine rotation control device for vehicle that enables start of engine according to intent of a driver when shift control of a gearbox and engine start control contained in a power transmission device of a vehicle overlaps. <P>SOLUTION: When execution decision of shift control and the engine start control overlap (SA1 and SA2: yes), and when a driver has a request of drive force change (SA3: yes), the engine start method is changed, and even if either the engine start control or shift control is performed, the other side is performed, and drive force change is promptly output (SA4). Meanwhile if there is no drive force change request of the driver (SA3: no), either of the engine start control or variable speed control is performed, the other side is performed after the execution, and the shock is reduced (SA5).
