The invention relates to a lifting device (1) on a heavy goods vehicle for lifting and emptying waste collecting bins with a jib (2) which can be extended telescopically. The jib (2) has a lifting tool (3) for coupling to a waste collecting bin. Furthermore a support (4) which can be extended and is mounted on a slewing platform (12) is provided for the jib, and has C-shaped sections (10, 11) which fit into one another and can be moved telescopically. The jib (2) is fastened so as to be vertically pivotable on the free end region of the support (4). Furthermore a lifting cylinder (25) is provided between the jib (2) and the support (4) in order to bring the jib to a specific pivot angle relative to the horizontal.
