摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of lowered productivity caused by periodic maintenance operation which is necessitated by the installation of a laser sensor near a welding torch. <P>SOLUTION: In an automatic welding system 1, a welding part Ws is detected by a laser sensor LS with teaching data corrected and with machining performed by a welding torch T. A welding robot MP is provided with a mechanism for attaching and detaching a tool by which either the welding torch or the laser sensor is installed. The system is also equipped with a tool stand 11 for retracting the welding torch and a tool stand 12 for retracting the laser sensor. First, the welding torch is retracted to the tool stand 11 with the laser sensor installed. Next, teaching data are corrected that are prepared in the installed state of the laser sensor. Then, the laser sensor is retracted to the tool stand 12 with the welding torch installed. Welding is performed by reproducing the corrected teaching data.
