Provided is a cutting tool (1) which is improved in disposal of cuttings and resistance to adhesion. This cutting tool (1) includes a hard sintered body (4) at least in the cutting edge, and is characterized in that the cutting tool (1) has a rake face (2) and a clearance face (3); the rake face (2) has a projected or a projected and recessed chip breaker (5); the hard sintered body (4) contains 20vol% or more cubic boron nitride; a region which is 20µm or less from the surface of the hard sintered body (4) on the rake face side is made up of a structure "A" of cubic boron nitride and a structure "B" containing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of hexagonal boron nitride, amorphous boron nitride, and boron oxide; and at the same time, the volumetric ratio B/(A+B) of the structure "B" to the sum of the structure "A" and the structure "B" is 5-90vol% inclusive. |
