摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving light emitting diode (LED) elements and a power supply for driving the elements that may increase the brightness without causing damage to the LED element, and prevent power from being wasted in a current limiting resistor or the like. <P>SOLUTION: It is provided at least one block comprising rows of any number of LED elements arranged therein. A signal current for controlling operation of the LED elements in the block is separated into two signal currents, a first signal current and a second signal current. The LED elements are driven using the first and second signal currents alternately and periodically such that with the first signal current, a rated forward current causing no damage to the LED elements flows for an allowable time period, and then with the second signal current, an allowable forward current corresponding to a duty ratio flows through the LED elements for an allowable time period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
