<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator hoisting machine that can easily inspect a brake pad by simplifying work in a narrow space. <P>SOLUTION: A maintenance inspection window 10 is formed by notch, etc in a frame 8 near an attachment portion of an electromagnetic brake device 9, or a cover when a front surface portion is covered by the cover. In the maintenance inspection window 10, a braked body 7 and area near a connection portion with the brake pad 11 of the electromagnetic brake device 9 pressing and braking the braked body 7 can be viewed in a side of an elevator car 2.
