<p>1373691 Carbon black CABOT CORP 6 March 1972 [10 March 1971 6 May 1971] 10274/72 Heading C1A [Also in Division C3] A furnace carbon black has a tint value of at least 200; a pH of at least 4 and a value for the expression (tint + 0À6 Da) wherein Da is the apparent diameter, of at least 317. The apparent diameter is defined as the diameter in millimicrons of a solid carbon sphere containing the same amount of carbon at the average amount of carbon per agglomerated particle in the black tested and is said to be given by calculating the expression (2270+63À5 (DBP))/I2 surface area in m.<2>/gm. This carbon black is used as a reinforcing filler in compositions containing synthetic and/or natural rubber in an amount of 10 to 250 parts of black per 100 parts by weight of rubber, the composition may be vulcanized to give a rubber product. Preferred ranges of the above data are given. Long lists of suitable rubbers and other, fillers, oxidants, vulcanizing agents and other rubber additives are given.</p> |
