The bearing (1) has an evaluation circuit producing layer information concerning relative position between a guide wagon (20) and a guide rail (10). The guide rail of the linear bearing exhibits smaller width (13) than the guide rail of another linear bearing. Plates (36) are incorporated in the guide wagon of the linear bearings at a same position and rotated at 180 degrees to each other. A connecting cable (32) is outwardly guided with the plates of the linear bearing. The guide wagon is moved with respect to the guide rail in a longitudinal direction (11).
