The method involves determining resonance frequency of a quartz crystal (28), which is washed by fuel e.g. diesel, petrol, naphtha, kerosene, alcohol, butanol, methanol, gas to liquid or biomass to liquid, in a fuel delivery system of an internal combustion engine. Density of the fuel in the fuel delivery system of the engine is determined based on the resonance frequency of the quartz crystal. Temperature of the fuel in a region of the quartz crystal and/or temperature of the quartz crystal are determined based on the determination of the frequency of the quartz crystal.
