The device (100) has a support for fixing a component (101) to be checked i.e. linear guide, and a contact body arranged opposite to the support. The support and the contact body are linearly moveable relative to each other with constant or variable relative speed over a selectable time period in a region wise manner. The contact body is placed for carrying-out a rolling and/or sliding motion on a surface area of the component facing the contact body under application of force on the surface area of the component that is fixed on the support. The contact body is selected from a group consisting of a step-shaped sliding body, a roller or belt pulley, a curvilinear such as a ball or gear component, a trained logarithmic profile such as ball bearing or cylindrical roller bearing. The contact conditions are selected from a group consisting of Hertz pressing, slippage, lubrication state, normal or frictional force, temperature, lubricants or geometric dimensions of the contact body and/or component. An independent claim is also included for a method for a region-wise checking of a rolling and/or wear resistance of a component.
