The method involves determining three measurement values e.g. speed values and average values, of a rail vehicle (1) by measuring arrangements. A measurement value sum is computed from the three measurement values. A fulfillment of a condition is determined whether the measurement value sum is equally large as a given threshold value or whether the measurement value sum exceeds the threshold value. A decision is made that the measuring arrangements lead to incorrect the measurement values to determine large measurement value if the condition and another condition are fulfilled. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring measuring arrangements of a rail vehicle.
