<p>1385956 Work-holders C BEHRENS AG 27 April 1972 [2 June 1971] 19697/72 Heading B3W A rail 70 on which workpiece holding devices (not shown) are supported is attached to a transverse carriage 81 of a co-ordinate table in a turret pinch press by means of plates 71, (72) yieldably mounted on the carriage to avoid damage in a collision between a workpiece, or workpiece holding device and the turret punch. The mounting means for plate 71 includes a disc 74 having a frusto-conical face seating in a complementary face in an insert 73 in the plate. A bolt 75 secured to the carriage by means of a disc 79 and screws 80 extends through a cylindrical extension of the disc 74 and a disc 76 retained on the bolt by nuts, with a helical spring 78 located between discs 74 and 76. If a transverse loading is applied to the rails 70 strong enough to. overcome the downward force of the spring 78 the disc 74 will slide out of its frustoconical seating actuating an electric switch (85), Fig. 5 (not shown), associated with each plate which switches off a drive to the co-ordinate table. The or each other plate (72), Fig. 4 (not shown), is mounted for movement longitudinally of the carriage to accommodate expansion movement of the rail 70, which is of steel, relative to the carriage 81 which is of light metal. The frusto-conical seating in portion 73 is replaced by parallel-rails (83) having opposed oblique seating faces (83<SP>1</SP>).</p> |
