<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile phone which solves a problem in which it takes time from a standby state to the transmission of text data. <P>SOLUTION: An operation unit 207 comprises character keys used in common as keys for dial transmission and as keys for character input. A storage memory 206 stores address information indicating the transmission destination of the text data. When the mobile phone comes into the standby state, a control unit 210 sets a character input mode in which the character keys are used as the keys for character input.
