PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device 11 that can obtain optimal feeding performance and separation performance without being influenced by a thickness of a recording material P.

SOLUTION: The hand-feed type sheet feeding device 11 includes: a pickup roller 21 feeding out each recording material P stacked on a stacking part 12; a sheet feeding roller 22 disposed in a conveyance downstream of the pickup roller 21; a separation member 23 separating the recording material P in cooperation with the sheet feeding roller 22; and a roller variable mechanism 17 varying a contact position of the recording material of the pickup roller 21 to a nip tangent line TL passing through a sheet feeding nip part N between the sheet feeding roller 22 and the separation member 23 according to a thickness of the recording material P.
