Latex is supplied by a variable speed metering pump 26 and coagullant is supplied from a constant head supply tank 28 via a solenoid valve (30) to a common supply duct 6. A convergent/divergent collar 19 divides the interior of the coagulator into a mixing chamber 20 and consolidating chamber 22 the latter having spaced lobe-like projections 23 extending longitudinally or helically along the wall. Discharge of coagulated rubber is assisted by a pair of spring loaded feed rolls 7. The immediate drive to the coagulator is by means of a duplex chain 17 which frictionally engages in a rectangular section recess of an annualar member 18 attached to the outer surface of the coagulator.
