<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer which contains a sulfonic acid group or a group related to sulfonic acid with a high softening point and is useful as an ion exchange membrane, an electrolyte for a solid polymer fuel cell, etc., a fluorosulfonyl group (-SO<SB>2</SB>F group)-containing polymer which is a material for the polymer, a fluorosulfonyl group-containing compound which is an intermediate of the polymer, and their preparation methods. <P>SOLUTION: The compound is represented by formula (a). The polymer contains a unit represented by formula (A), which is prepared by polymerizing the compound. The polymer contains a unit represented by formula (B), which is derived from the polymer.
