PURPOSE: An air conditioner for a vehicle is provided to make air temperature, discharging toward face side of a driver or passengers lower than air temperature, discharging toward the floor. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner(100) for a vehicle comprises an air conditioning case(110), an evaporator(120), an electronic heater(130), mode doors(115,116,117), and an upper bypass passage(140). The air conditioning case comprises an air inlet(111), a floor vent(112), a defrost vent(113), and a face vent(114). The evaporator is installed in the air inlet side of the air conditioning case. The electric heat is installed in the rear side of the evaporator. The mode door opens and closes the floor vent, the defrost vent, and the face vent. The air, passing through the evaporator, is supplied to the defrost vent and the face vent directly not to be passed the electric heater because the upper bypass passage is formed in the upper part of downstream of the evaporator capable of separating from the electric heater.
