The separator has a carriage (60) carrying a plunger (70). An electrodynamic control element (110) is mounted in a housing (10). The control element acts on the moving carriage for moving the plunger between retracted and extended positions. The control element is provided with a coil body (115), a winding (116), a bell shaped top (111), a magnet core (112) e.g., neodymium magnet, and a yoke plate (113). The control element is electrically drivable in both extending and guide longitudinal directions (8). Retaining magnets (51, 52) are arranged in the housing (10).
