<p>An outer ring (10) for an angular contact rolling bearing with a dual set of bearing balls is obtained by rolling a thin-walled metal element. The ring has two tubular cylindrical side portions (11, 12) with respective outer cylindrical surfaces (11a, 12a) adapted for being accommodated in a cylindrical housing (H), and a central portion (13) with an outer surface (13a) in the form of a groove with a U-shaped axial cross section forming a radial recess in the cylindrical surfaces (11a, 12a). The ring (10) is symmetrical with respect to a central radial mid-plane (P) passing through the central portion (13) and is made of steel with a carbon content of about 1%. The ring comprises a succession of segments of constant or variable thickness which give the ring great durability.</p> |
