An orthodontic bracket (110, 410, 610) for coupling an archwire with a tooth comprises a bracket body (112, 412, 612), a hinge pin (116, 416, 616), and a latch (114, 414, 614). The bracket body (112, 412, 612) includes a first surface configured to be mounted to the tooth and an archwire slot (118, 418) in a second surface. The hinge pin (116, 416, 616) includes a first shaft portion coupled with the bracket body (112, 412, 612). The latch (114, 414, 614) is coupled to the bracket body (112, 412, 612) by a second shaft portion of the hinge pin. The latch (114, 414, 614) is movable between an opened position and a closed position. A cross-sectional profile of the first shaft portion and/or the second shaft portion of the hinge pin (116, 416, 616) is configured to elastically deform to impart a spring bias to the latch (114, 414, 614) that opposes movement of the latch (114, 414, 614) relative to the bracket body (112, 412, 612). |
