A femoral extension prosthetic component 20 for use in a unicondylar meniscal bearing unicompartmental knee replacement, the femoral component 20 comprising a securing element (not shown) and a bearing surface 21, the securing element adapted to abut and be connected to a distal end of a femur bone, the bearing surface 21 adapted to abut a meniscal bearing 28, the femoral component 20 including an entrapment portion 23 adapted to extend beyond the meniscal bearing 28. The entrapment portion 23 may extend or project medially or laterally beyond the meniscal bearing 28. In use the entrapment portion reduces the risk of partial medial dislocation. In another aspect a tibial shelf is described. In a further aspect a meniscal bearing is described. |
