<p>1453872 Laminating corrugated boards SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 28 Dec 1973 [16 April 1973] 59937/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division B2] Sheet material (i) is laminated to corrugated plastics board (ii) by preheating the board (ii) between moving conveyer belts, laminating (i) and (ii) by means of an adhesive film, powder or emulsion comprising ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and pressing and cooling the laminate between air-cooled or water-cooled moving conveyers without substantial reduction of thickness. Both sets of belts may transmit pressure from a series of roller pairs. The preheating belts are preferably heated by being disposed in an oven and the cooling belts may be cooled by spray or blower devices. The lamination may take place between pressure rollers, sheet (i) being preheated if necessary. An emulsion or powdered adhesive may be coated on to the preheated board (ii) and then heated for drying or melting. Suitable adhesive copolymers and materials for (i) are listed. The sheet (i) may be replaced by powdered, granular or fibrous material, which may be mixed with the adhesive. In examples, the following laminates are prepared: (1) corrugated polyethylene board-(polyurethane foam-embossed pvc) laminated sheeting (emulsion adhesive); and (2) corrugated polypropylene board-embossed polypropylene sheet (powdered adhesive).</p> |
