The sewage treatment device (10) has a waste water inlet (12), a waste water drainage (40) and a filter unit (14) that is flow-technically arranged between the waste water inlet and the waste water drainage. The filter unit has a housing (16), in which a filter medium is accommodated for adsorbing and absorbing foreign substances from the wastewater. A lower edge (42) of the waste water drainage is arranged in vertical direction over an upper edge (44) of the housing of the filter unit. An independent claim is also included for a sewage treatment plant with a pre-cleaning device.
