Device for protecting a splice and method for installing such a device

The device has a transparent hollow main portion (P) i.e. hollow cylindrical tube, arranged between hollow adjustable and fixed portions (I, II). The main portion has a junction part (6) that is provided with a semi-cylindrical portion whose collar co-operates with a ringed micropipe (10) to fix the junction part on the micropipe for re-entering the micropipe in the junction part. The adjustable portion has a conical locking sleeve (7) and a collar ring (8) that lock the junction part around the micropipe. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a splice protecting device.
