PURPOSE: An organic electroluminescent display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve reliability of an active layer by preventing internal light or external light to be entered in an active layer of a thin film transistor. CONSTITUTION: A first electrode(31) and a gate electrode(33) are formed on a substrate(1). A active layer(23) insulated with the gate electrode is formed on thee substrate. An insulating layer(24) is formed between a source electrode(25) and a drain electrode(26). A pixel defined layer(28) is formed on the insulating layer. The pixel defined layer comprises an opening part which exposes a first electrode and covers the source electrode and the drain electrode. A light shielding layer(29) secluding light which is entered in the active layer is formed on the surface of the pixel defined layer.
