The fixing of a heat exchanger tube 93 to a fixing (e.g. an end coupling 103) is tested by fitting a test tool 151 to the fixing to form a fluid connection for and applying a test pressure to determine acceptability of the fixing. The end couplings 103 each include a clamping feature (129a,b, fig 9b) and first & second bores (119,121, fig 9d); and an enclosure part (107, fig 9a) which is fixed by welding to the remainder of the coupling after testing provides a closed fluid connection between bores. The tool seals around a bore of the coupling, and is clamped by arms 165a,b engaging the clamping feature 129a,b and biased by a threaded mechanism 167. |
