A method for alarm and performance monitoring and a network node are provided. During the process of alarm and performance monitoring of control channels, location information of data burst on data channels is determined through bandwidth map (BWMap) information contained in data of the control channels, and alarm and performance monitoring are performed on the data channels according to the location information, so that the control channels and the data channels cooperate to perform alarm and performance monitoring, thus realizing alarm and performance monitoring of the control channels and data channels in an optical ring network.
