A system for automatic energy allocation in communal heating systems

The district heating system comprises a communal heating plant 1 and two or more users 3. Each user is arranged to receive heat energy from the communal heating plant and includes a heat meter 5 arranged to determine the amount of heat energy received by the respective user from the communal heating plant. Each user also includes a power supply 4 arranged to power the communal heating plant. The communal heating plant is powered by the power supply of the two or more users, with the amount of power supplied by each user to the communal heating plant being proportional to the heat energy received by the respective user, as measured by the user s heat meter. The system may include an automated power switching device 8 activated by an analytical control system 7 to determine which users power supply powers the communal heating plant at any given time. An uninterruptable power supply 11 may be provided between the automated power switching device and the communal heating plant. This system ensures fair distribution of the cost of running the communal heating plant since the heat consumed by a user is paid for directly by the user.
