PURPOSE: A backflow prevention valve for a water gauge is provided to quickly seal the inlet of a vertical channel by preventing the loss of backflow buoyancy applied to an elevating opening/shutting element. CONSTITUTION: A backflow prevention valve for a water gauge comprises an L-shaped valve body(10), an elevating opening/shutting element(20), a nut(40), and a second packing(30). A horizontal channel(11) and a vertical channel are formed inside the valve body. The vertical channel has an inclined inlet, the periphery of a head(21) of the elevating opening/shutting element which is connected to the inlet of the vertical channel is inclined at the same angle as the inlet of the vertical channel, and a first packing(22) is installed in the center of an inclined surface(211) of the head. An opening/closing element body(23) integrated in the head is formed in a pipe shape. A plurality of water-feed holes(24) are formed at regular intervals on the upper periphery of the opening/closing element body and exposed on the surface of the inclined surface of the head. A second packing has a support surface and is interposed between the valve body and the nut. The bottom of the opening/closing element body is placed on the support surface of the second packing.
