PURPOSE: A display apparatus and a method for generating an image are provided to create 3D image applying different depth value by the broadcast mode. CONSTITUTION: An image receiving unit(110) receives 2D image. A storage unit(150) stores depth information which is differently set by the broadcasting mode. A control unit(140) determines the 2D broadcast mode. The control unit controls a video processing unit(120) for creating 3D image by applying the depth value corresponding to the determined broadcast mode.
