PURPOSE:To enable thread rolling also in the return stroke of table, by installing parallel the tooth profile forming tools at specified intervals by inverting the longitudinal direction in the table moving in the vertical direction with respect to the axial line of the work, and moving the work in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:Rack type tooth profile forming tools 2a-8b of which tooth depth increases gradually from the front end to the rear end, providing the same tooth profile as that to be formed at the rear end part, are installed in tables 2a, 2b. These are set parallel, and 5a, 6a and 7a, 8a, and 5b, 6b and 7b, 8b are related reversely in the longitudinal direction. By the axial movement of a supporting member 1, the gears 15, 16 of supported work 10 are positioned to the tools 5a-6b, and the tables 2a, 2b are moved in synchronism in the directions of arrows 11a, 11b to thread the gears 15, 16, thus ending the going stroke. Then, the member 1 is moved in the direction of arrow 12, and, similarly, gears 17, 18 are threaded by tools 7a-8b by moving the tables 2a, 2b in the directions of arrows 13a, 13b. |
