A method for treating subclinical hypothyroidism in pregnant patients in the setting of the natural lack of iodine in contaminated environmental conditions comprises the examination of the level of iodine excretion in the urine and the content of free thyroxin and thyrotropic hormone in blood serum. When iodine excretion in the urine is less than 100 µg/L, concentration of free thyroxin is near lower limit, namely 10.0 pM, and concentration of thyrotropic hormone in blood serum is above 4.0 µIU/mL, Laminarin is recommended at a daily dose of 1.0- depending on the extent of ioduria. When iodine excretion in the urine is less than 100 µg/L, concentration of free thyroxin is less than 10.0 pM, and concentration of thyrotropic hormone in blood serum is above 4.0 µIU/mL, Laminarin is supplemented with Levothyroxin sodium at a daily dose of 25-50 µg. The content of free thyroxin and thyrotropic hormone in blood serum should be monitored once a month. |
