TECHNIQUE FOR COLOSTOMY IN ACUTE ILEUS

A technique for colostomy in the acute ileus comprises exteriorization of the region of colon to the anterior abdominal wall with its suturing to the soft tissues and the skin with interrupted sutures. The lumen of the exteriorized colon is open via the lateral wall. The dissected wall of the exteriorized colon is sutured with the proximal end of the rubber elastic cylinder using non-interrupted suture. The distal end of the cylinder is placed to the container for collection of the intestinal content. The intestine is emptied immediately after the surgery. The elastic cylinder is detached from the lateral wall of colon on Day 7 postoperatively.
